How to use your mobile data efficiently on Android

Android smartphones are almost useless without internet subscription and so, we often ensure that we do not run out of data. But, these data are not always sufficient and finishes even before its expiry date.

            Some people don't even know how these data are used up and so, complain that  the rate of data consumption by their network providers is high. But the truth is that, although their rate of data consumption may be high, 98% of our data are consumed by applications on our smartphones that we know not that they consume data.

            In this post, I will be sharing some
tips that can help us use our mobile data efficiently
to ensure that they last longer for us.

 1. Restrict background apps: Some applications run in our smartphone's background and these applications consume data even when we don't use them. Restricting background data means that you're telling your smartphone that no application should connect to the internet except you open them.

2. Stop Auto-download of applications on Playstore: 
By default, Google Playstore automatically updates applications as soon as it sees internet connection and this consumes a lump amount of our data even if we don't open it. To stop auto-download of applications on playstore;

i. Open Play Store
ii. Go to settings
iii. Turn off auto update


3. Stop auto download of images and videos on whatsapp: On whatsapp, images and videos are downloaded automatically by default and this consumes our data. To stop auto download on Whatsapp;
i. Open Whatsapp
ii. Go to settings
iii. Navigate to CHAT AND CALLS
iv. Tap on MEDIA AUTO DOWNLOAD

4. Make use of wi-fi whenever you see one: Complementing our data subscription with Wi-Fi is advisable because, it is unlimited.

 5. Prevent unnecessary ads from popping up: Ads that do appear on android applications and sometimes homescreen consume data and preventing them will go a long way in ensuring that our data lasts longer. Ads prevention can be done by using applications that were designed to prevent them from appearing on our android homescreen or on applications

6. Step down to 2G: Many android smartphones have 3G and 4G networks which means accelerated speed and rate of data consumption. Therefore, stepping down to 2G will help
save your data
because the rate of data consumption will be reduced.
