How To Enable Hibernate Option In Windows 8 Power Menu

Introduction:

Hibernation is the process of powering down a computer while retaining its state. When a system is hibernated, the hardware components are shutdown as in normal shutdown but the processes ongoing at the time of hibernation, is saved in the system's RAM or to it's hard disk drive such that, upon resumption, the computer goes back to the state and processes that were ongoing before hibernation. It is generally an energy saving measure especially for laptops because their battery lives are not endless.
          In all Windows 8 computer system, this hibernate option is not available in it's power menu and some have complained about this. The truth is that, it was included in the design but was disabled.

Therefore, to enable it, follow these steps below:
1. Press "WIN+R" on your keyboard simultaneously to launch RUN d;ialog box. Then, type "powercfg.cpl" and press enter. This will open the power options window.

2. Click on "choose what the power buttons do " link at the left sidebar.

3. Then click on "change settings that are currently unavailable" link at the top sidebar,  then scroll down.

4. You will see the Hibernate option disabled, just check the box and apply the changes.

Note: You may lose data if you make hibernation unavailable and a power loss occurs while the hybrid sleep setting is turned on.
